When their boats gets stuck for repairs in the harbour of a tine Oregon town, bored and impatient Joanna employs carpenter Dean Proffitt (Kurt Russel) to improve her closet space. After completing the job, Dean asks to be paid only to be turned down by Joanna who deems the work unacceptable. So, when in one of her trademark snits, Joanna falls overboard and gets amnesia, Dean hatches a no-fail plot for revenge. Taking Joanna home with him, he renames her Annie and is a stroke of retributive genius, tells her that she is the mother of his four unruly children! The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox. The Dirtwater Fox (Segal) is a slick gambler who wants to hold on to the $40,000 hes stolen from a gang of outlaws. The Duchess (Hawn) is a scheming saloon singer who wants to become a real lady. But once they team up, they begin to realise that what they really want is each other. Mixing clever dialogue with plenty of action, this sassy spoof of the Old West is made all the more fun by its two talented stars.
