The Farrelly brothers nail the laughs in this hugely popular comedy about a hugely popular girl. DODGEBALL

When megalomaniacal White Goodman (Ben Stiller), the owner of a trendy, high-end fitness center, makes a move to take over the struggling local gym run by happy-go-lucky Pete La Fleur (Vince Vaughn), there's only one way for La Fleur to fight back: dodgeball. Aided by a dodgeball guru (Rip Torn) and Goodman's attorney (Christine Taylor), La Fleur and his rag-tag team of underdogs launch a knock-down, drag-out battle in which the winner takes all.

SHALLOW HAL

The writing-directing siblings Peter and Bobby Farrelly train their camera on Hal (Jack Black), a terminal bachelor obsessed with scoring a knockout babe. A chance encounter in an elevator with a self-help guru imbues Hal with the (hallucinatory) power to see people's inner beauty over their outer shell. Soon, he finds true love in Rosie, a 400-lb. social worker who appears to Hal in the lithe form of Gwyneth Paltrow.
