When a disaffected young man murders a taxi driver, he is put on trial by the state. Though defended by an idealistic lawyer, he is finally sentenced to death by hanging for his crime. Disturbing, though provoking and graphically filmed, the events that transpire will leave yiou breathless.

Kzysztof Kieslowski's masterful run of classic cinema continues with A SHORT FILM ABOUT LOVE an engrossing rumination on desire and obsession. The film begins with nineteen-year-old Tomek (Olaf Lubaszenko) spying on an older woman named Magda (Grazyna Szapolowska) from his bedroom window. Obsessed with her and growing bolder, he invents reasons to make contact until the two finally meet. When Tomek confesses his conduct and feelingws, they become sexually involved.

This is a moving and lyrical film about one of the most basic human needs - the need to feel loved. Kieslowski's meticulous direction shows the shocking difference between the innocence of imagination and the harshness of reality, as only he could.
