The Women / Crimes of the Heart

The Women: The Women whisks us into a busy pocket of Manhattan. At the centre of the tale is Mary Haines (Meg Ryan), a thoroughly modern woman suddenly confronted with an age-old dilemma: a cheating husband. Mary appears to have it all: a beautiful home, a lovely 12-year old daughter, a successful Wall Street husband and a career as a fashion designer. One thing Mary can always count on is the wonderful company of her girlfriends, Sylvie (Bening), the impeccable chic editor of a major fashion magazine, Edie (Messing), eccentric mother of five and Alex (Pinkett Smith), author and forthright glamour-puss. The ladies swiftly rally to Marys side upon learning of her husbands infidelity at the hands of a backstabbing shopgirl. The trouble resides at Saks Fifth Avenue, with the stores resident gold-digger, a perfume spritzer girl named Crystal Allen (Mendes). So these funny, enterprising and very protective women take matters into their own hands
Crimes of the Heart: Babe (Sissy Spacek) has just shot her husband, Lenny (Diane Keaton) worries that men will no longer find her attractive and Meg (Jessica Lange) returns from Hollywood after a nervous breakdown. The three eccentric sisters reunite and their initial joy dissolves into a series of squabbles and arguments. But they pull together and support each other, through their exasperating succession of mistakes and misfortunes.
